To provide a little more info, here’s a meme to celebrate the end of 2009 that I found at Bleeding Espresso:
1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before? Got married
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Cannot remember making any for 2009; for 2010, I have said that I want to keep the apartment clutter-free, but given that we are both hoarders that might prove quite challenging.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? The past two years have been a baby boom among our friends, a baby boom that we’re adding to in 2010.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Yes, sadly, I lost a close friend in March 2009.
5. What countries did you visit? The UK, Denmark, the USA – a bit of a quiet travel year, owing to the wedding.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009? A new addition to the family – due in early May 2010.
7. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? 23 May 2009 – our wedding day.
8. Did you suffer illness or injury? A little bit of nausea and morning sickness in September/October.
9. What was the best thing you bought? Canon 450D
10. Where did most of your money go? The wedding and furniture for the apartment.
11. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Getting married
12. What song will always remind you of 2009? Too many to choose from
13. Compared to this time last year, are you: (a) happier or sadder? (b) thinner or fatter? (c) richer or poorer?Happier, thinner (not counting the baby bump!) and richer, certainly in terms of experience.
14. What do you wish you’d done more of? Studying for my digital photography course.
15. What do you wish you’d done less of? Complaining
16. How did you spend Christmas? With Husband’s family down in Skåne (southern Sweden)
17. Did you fall in love in 2009? With Husband, all over again – for me, being married is a completely different experience to just being engaged or living together.
18. What was your favorite TV programme? Grand Designs
19. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year? Not hate, that’s something I’ve given up on really – it takes far too much energy.
20. What was the best book you read? Tough question – there really are so many to choose from.
21. What was your greatest musical discovery? Spotify!
22. What did you want and get? A Kitchen Aid mixer
23. What did you want and not get? The above was, and has been, my main birthday and Christmas wish for some time.
24. What was your favourite film of this year? Really not sure
25. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? In 2009, I turned 33. We were on honeymoon at the time, in San Francisco. We had booked dinner at a great restaurant but owing to tiredness and jet leg, we decided to take a short nap beforehand. Unfortunately, although we set the alarm on the mobile, it was still running on Stockholm time. We woke three hours too late for dinner…
26. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? On the whole, it was a fantastic year, the dark spot being the loss of a close friend in March. So, I guess that is my answer.
27. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009? Not really sure, although towards year-end it definitely shifted owing to being pregnant.
28. What kept you sane? Husband
29. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Unsure
30. What political issue stirred you the most? Gordon Brown’s complete mismanagement of government.
31. Who did you miss? See no.4
32. Who was the best new person you met? That’s a really challenging one as I met so many new friends in 2009.
33. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009. That you cannot trust everyone and that someone you really think you can trust can easily turn around and stab you in the back; a bit of a sad lesson to learn but valuable nonetheless.
34. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year. Just because it was everywhere in 2009…
P-p-p-poker face, p-p-poker face
(Mum mum mum mah)
