In brief: English, living in Sweden, with my Swedish/Hungarian husband and our sons, Little O and Baby E, and trying to juggle all the different aspects of my new life – the me I was before, the me I am now and the me that I would like to be.
If you’d like to know a little more about Little O’s birth, you can read all about it here. And click here for a quick run-through of all his achievements in his first year, or here for what we got up to during his second year. And Baby E’s birth story, which was a little different to his brother’s, can be found here. If pregnancy interests you more, then you can read one of my most popular posts – the ten things that they don’t tell you about pregnancy - here.
Enjoy!

Hej Englishmamma!
I have no idea how I came across your blog (honestly, I was surfing for maternity wear from my work pc) and had a peek. I too am in Sweden…Stockholm to be more specific and expecting my first. I’m nearly 26 weeks and a native English speaker from Canada.
Hope your pregnancy is treating you nicely (I am far too itchy!) I too blog, but on a more personal level for family that aren’t able to experience this wonderful time with us….if you’re interested in meeting for a fika or lunch, etc. let me know.
Happy new year in the meantime!
Tanis
Hej Tanis,
Glad that my blog showed up in your search! Would love to meet up (have emailed you) as I am in Stockholm too.
Kat
Hi Kat,
Great blog. My mother in California somehow stumbled upon your website and sent me the link:) I am also an American living in Stockholm and I’m expecting my first child in July. Fun to read about your journey so far. Best of luck!
Windsor
Hi Windsor,
Thank you! I hope that you’re enjoying your pregnancy so far and this snowy weather we have now. I don’t know if you know about the site already, but I have found Mums in Sweden really useful and have met up with some of the others in Stockholm in recent months. Take care,
Kat
Hi,
I was doing some research online and came across your website. I hope you don’t mind me reaching out to you. I’m a casting assistant in New York for a popular show about people relocating outside North America. It’s called House Hunters International and airs on the Home & Garden cable network (HGTV). We are casting people for this show right now and I was wondering if you or anyone you know would be interested in participating.
Our show tells the story of a family or couple who have purchased property outside of their native country . The purpose of the show is to demystify the process of moving and living abroad. You can learn more about our show and watch episodes here: http://www.hgtv.com/house-hunters-international/show/index.html or here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hety7cF7k0g
Putting together an episode with you would be a real treat for our audience and it’s a lot of fun for you too. Contributors to the show get a nice keepsake shot in HD video and also receive compensation for your time and efforts.
If you or anyone you know is interested in learning more, please contact me directly at househunterscasting@leopardfilms.com. Thank you in advance for your prompt feedback on this. Have a wonderful day!
Hi Kat,
Was really pleased to come across your site. I am a South African (living back in SA) but I lived in Stockholm for close on seven years.
I recently started a business here manufacturing maternity wear (battled like mad to find really nice stuff when I was preggie). It’s doing really well here and I’m now looking into the possibility of exporting. I thought to start with Sweden as I know the place (and it’s a nice excuse for me to visit all my friends and conduct business at the same time). Anyway, you seem really upbeat and interested in life and I would love to chat to you to find out what you do (besides the crazy busy-ness of motherhood of course) and see if it would suit us to do some work together.
Let me know.
Best regards,
Claire
Hi there English Mamma! Echoing the sentiment of the others above, I am thrilled to have stumbled upon your site – I was searching for birthing classes in Stockholm and viola!
I am an American living in Stockholm with my Swedish husband. I am about five months pregnant and genuinely excited / mildly terrified about being a mom in Sweden. I must say, your blog gave me a real dose of faith!
In the case you are free in the foreseeable for a coffee date to talk shop, I would love to connect with you to hear more about how you juggled it all.
Best to you and your family!
amanda
Hi there Amanda! Thanks for your kind words. I’ve sent you an email. Hope to be able to meet up with you!
