Specialist teas seem particularly hot just now, especially ones that help you to detox or slim down. And I have joined this tea club. I’m now halfway through the Teami 30-day detox tea programme.
You might have heard about Teami Blends on social media or seen my Instagram pic when I started drinking the tea. They have a range of different blends, including the detox package and nighttime teas. And when they kindly sent me their two detox teas to try out, the timing could not have been better. It was the end of the summer and I was still looking at my belly in disappointment. I don’t know what I expected. Two weeks in the UK eating cake and drinking wine like they were going out of fashion is hardly conducive to the ultimate beach body. Changes were needed.
Teami 30-day detox tea – how it works
The 30-day detox programme is simple. One cup of Skinny tea each morning before breakfast and one cup of Colon tea every other night before bed. Really easy, isn’t it? It actually fits perfectly into my day: I typically start each morning at work with a cup of peppermint tea. It has been a doddle to swap one tea for the other.
Both teas have a pleasant herbal taste, although Teami do say that you can add a drop of honey if you’d like them sweeter. I haven’t needed to though. One word of warning: both contain caffeine from the plants used, so it might take a day or so to find a balance between the teas and the coffee you usually drink. I know I can drink three coffees a day and was surprised to find myself feeling a little jittery after drinking these plus the Skinny Tea the first day.
What does it do?
The 30-day detox is intended to help you burn stored fat, reduce bloating, boost your metabolism and clear your skin. The question is, does it work? Halfway through the month, I can say I’ve definitely noticed changes: I don’t want to snack as much, I am slimmer around the middle and can see more definition on my tummy as a result and I feel less bloated. I hadn’t really thought about my skin until now, but I have also had far fewer outbreaks this past week too.
At the same time I started on the detox programme, I also managed got myself back into a good training groove. I’ve been trying to work out three times a week and on the whole I’ve succeeded. My diet, on the other hand, has not been that great (apart from much less snacking). So I am grateful to the teas for still helping me to slim down in spite of this.
I am interested to see the results when my period comes though, since I usually get particularly bloated then and my face always breaks out. Will the teas stop that? And will they still be able to combat my snacking habit? Watch this space.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve learned a few different things while drinking the teas. Here are my tips:
♦ Make sure you drink water regularly during the day.
♦ Be prepared for the teas to have a little bit of an odd effect in the first few days. I found I needed only to dip the Colon tea bag in the hot water for less than a minute the first few times. It was strong enough doing that. Teami also recommend drinking a glass of water before the Colon tea, and I found that really helped.
♦ If the tea tastes too strong, you can always add a little bit of honey.
♦ You can drink the Skinny tea one to three times a day; you don’t only need to have it in the morning. It’s really refreshing and a good way of hydrating yourself (I am so bad at remembering to drink during the day).
♦ Try to train during your detox programme – it will only help boost the results.
