What I Wore Wednesday is not the only reason why I really wanted to wear this summer skirt today. I wanted to wear it as I want it to be summer. I worried that I was going to regret it, but I was lucky enough even to be able to each lunch outside today.
I bought the skirt in the sale at Karen Millen a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It is all floaty and 50s style and such a pretty light blue colour. And I discovered this morning that it has pockets. What is not to love about that?
The website calls it a denim skirt but the fabric is a soft brushed cotton and it is so much lighter than denim.
I’ve had these blue ballerina shoes for years but I think they might be on their last legs. It will be a sad day when they go, but the silk is fraying off at the back of the heels. But they are perfect for walking around in on the uneven pavements. The black suede slingbacks are my new office shoes – they are fine on the carpets and wooden floors at work but the heels would be ruined if I wore them outside too often. These were another sales purchase – this time from Angela C in the city.
So, summer might not be here (or might have come and gone that week that we had 23 degrees), but I think I still managed to get a bit of a summer skirt feeling with my What I Wore Wednesday outfit this week. I hope I can wear it for at least a few more days this summer.
